My Story
Growing up in Maine, I was surrounded by family members who worked with their hands to do carpentry, woodworking, automotive work, logging, and more. I learned from them that everything around us can be tinkered with and, often, repaired. Although my first woodworking is a forgotten memory of building a birdhouse at a little tike workshop at a Home Depot, I have since been building random projects any time I’ve found myself around tools and always repairing the items I have.
Wicked Good Woodworking started in a single car garage right in Portland, Oregon back in 2020. I now operate in a space about twice the size and have a collection of tools that I’ve acquired mostly second-hand. My free time in the workshop is often spent building more storage solutions, upgrading tools, and trying to increase my operational efficiency in the shop. One of my favorite tasks is to create storage that maximizes the efficiency of a space, so building out my shop has been a dream.
At the moment, I operate my shop 4 days a week and work at a small restaurant the other three days. This has allowed me the financial freedom to work on my skill in my craft while I continue to build my portfolio and hone the efficiency of my shop. I’ve never wanted to pigeon hole myself as a builder or find that one niche product everybody wants. Instead, I’ve focused on building items that challenge my mind and push my skills so I can continue to learn. As I learn more, my projects will change and adapt to my new skills.
My dream is to be at a place where I can build custom interiors for different types of vehicles. Whether the vehicle be used for business or pleasure, I’d like to build my skillset to maximize the efficiency of a space while working directly with a client. In my down-time I’ll always continue building small to medium items that inspire me.
My Goals
Lasting Work
With a purchase of my work, you should expect a quality piece that lasts. I will work to provide the best customer service I can if you are not satisfied with a piece from me.
Thoughtfully Sourced
Materials are sourced as local as possible. This means wood comes from local suppliers, hardware comes from small companies, and my consumables are purchased from small companies.
Communicative
I want to provide a relationship where a client can come to me with their dreams and I can work with them to build custom projects. If either party has concerns, they should be voiced.
Carefully Built
Every project I build carefully takes into consideration everything from the fine grain details of the wood to the final finish on the project.
